Royal Solent Yacht Club

Cruising

The Club has many yachtsmen who prefer cruising to racing and in addition has many members with motor boats. The Cruising group has a reputation for hospitality and welcomes newcomers. During the past few years the Club has organised several foreign cruises, recently to Croatia, the Burgundy canals and Turkey.

For those unable to devote the time to such trips, there are shorter cruising voyages arranged closer to home - the Seine to Paris, the Channel Islands and many short cruises between Poole and Chichester.

Closer to home there are generally 4 or 5 rallies organised in the Solent .  Both day trips 'Out for Lunch!' and over night.

The cruising programme for 2013 is being developed, the first events planned are as follows:

Tuesday 26th March        Lymington for Lunch

Tuesday 16th April           Race Officers outing to the Royal Lymington for lunch

Tuesday 30th April           East Cowes or the Folly Inn for lunch.

Thursday 16th May          Due to unforseen circumstances the cruise to Wootton Creek is regrettably postponed.

Tuesday 25th June          Picnic to Newtown Creek.

You do not need to have a boat to join in, contact the Sailing Office and we will put you in touch with someone who would like to take 'crew'.

If you are interested in cruising and are not on the Cruising email list, please contact Nicky in the Sailing Office on 01983 760256 or via sailing@royalsolent.org.

Geoff Neary is the Captain of Cruising and can be contacted via the Royal Solent, email: sailing@royalsolent.org
