Thursday 24th April 2014
The 6th Annual Royal Yacht Clubs Golf Meeting, will take place at Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club on Thursday 24th April; once again the Royal Solent Yacht Club will be putting forward at least 3 or 4 teams.
The format is a St Andrew’s foursomes, a variation on Greensome Foursomes. The scoring will be on a stableford off half the combined handicaps of the pair, maximum 18 strokes per pair.
Coffee and bacon rolls will be served at 0830hrs. Tee off from 0848 hrs onwards with lunch served at The Royal Lymington Yacht Club at 1415hrs. The cost is £78.00 per head, which is inclusive of coffee and bacon rolls, golf, lunch and wines at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club.
The winners will receive The Royal Lymington Claret Jug, previously held by Messrs Oldershaw and Coke of your club, currently held by 2 renegade members of the RSYC namely Messrs Jennings and Jennings, playing for The Royal Thames Yacht Club, a somewhat inferior establishment in Knightsbridge !!
It is therefore imperative that we can put up a good team, hopefully to restore the Cup to its rightful place in Yarmouth. There are also prizes for second and third placed teams.
Hopefully, there will be 6 to 8 of us to make up 3 or 4 teams. Don’t worry if there is an odd number, players can play with members of other Royal Yacht Clubs. If you win the ‘Claret Jug’ spends six months with us, six months with the other club !!
Interested players should enter their name on the list in the club foyer, together with their handicap. Please can you let the RSYC office have a cheque made payable to A.N.G Kilgour Sports Account or BACS your payment to 20-53-53 70790850.
Finally once numbers going are known I will try and organise cars probably 2or 3 catching the 0750 hrs boat and something like the 1700/1800 hrs back.
Looking forward to seeing you and let’s get the cup back to where it belongs!!
Peter Coke.
