South Pacific is a Rodgers & Hammerstein musical that follows two intercultural romances threatened by the dangers of war and deeply ingrained prejudices. The story focuses on Nellie Forbush, a naive Navy nurse from Arkansas who falls for a middle-aged French planter, Emile de Becque, but struggles to accept his mixed-race children. Paralleling this, U.S. Lieutenant Cable falls in love with a Tonkinese woman named Liat, but fears the social consequences of their union. Featuring iconic songs like "Some Enchanted Evening" and "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair," the show explores themes of love, duty, and racial intolerance, famously arguing that prejudice is "carefully taught".
The film with start at 14:00 prompt with a running time of 2hrs 37 minutes.
