WHAT'S ON

Commodore's Supper

Saturday 7 February 2026

There is No Second:- The definitive account of the first race around the Isle of Wight in 1851 for what became 'America's Cup.' With the America's Cup being the pinnacle of the yachting calendar, author and Cup journalist Magnus Wheatley is one of the leading journalist voices regarding the world's oldest international sporting trophy. Taking the best part of two years to research and write, 'There is No Second' leaves readers swept away in the race's history (starting around the Isle of Wight in 1851) and immersed in the most important aspects of this competition - its history, tradition and fierce, but friendly competition.

The book will be available after the talk at a discounted rate of £12.50 against £17.99. The book was an official product of the 37th America's Cup where Magnus Wheatley was the Chief Writer for the event and contracted to Emirates Team New Zealand.
