Our Response to Covid

We are delighted to be able to confirm that the Royal Solent Yacht Club is now open again, please find below details of the procedures we have put in place for a safe re-opening.

In line with government legislation, face coverings are required to be worn in the Clubhouse, except whilst seated at your allocated table and table bookings must be kept to a maximum of 6 people.


SAME GREAT SERVICE - DIFFERENT PROCEDURES
In light of the ongong announcements by the Government concerning the safe operation of pubs, clubs and hotels during the COVID-19 pandemic, there is guidance and legislation in place which we must follow to remain open safely and legally.

It will not be easy for any of us and to many the procedures we are required to put in place will appear onerous, to others perhaps over cautious but we would ask you to think about the more vulnerable in our community and respect these rules.

We have fully opened  the Clubhouse so the bar and dining areas and members' lounge are available, plus the outside areas. The cloakrooms on the ground floor are also open, however the showers remain closed.


 * BOOKING IN ADVANCE
Advanced booking is recommended to avoid disappointment, however if you arrive without a booking we will of course do our best to accommodate you. Booking will also help us to ensure that we know who is in the Club for contact and trace purposes should it be necessary; we are required to keep this information for three weeks. Members should ideally pay using their Club Payment Card account, particularly as this will allow redemption of the member discount, so account balances may be need to be topped up when you book.

The booking line (01983 760256) is open from 9am - 5pm Monday to Thursday, 10am - 5pm Friday and 9am - 12pm Saturdays. Alternatively, outside of office hours, try the Bar on 760239 or email your booking requirement to bookings@royalsolent.org and we will call you back we will call you back during office hours to confirm availability. When you book you will be asked which area you would like to sit in and you will be allocated a table, subject to availability.

* GROUP BOOKINGS
From Monday 14th September, a new Government law requires that tables are limited to 6 people, each of whom can be from different households. In all cases, people from different households should ensure they socially distance as much as possible. When allocating tables we will endeavour to support social distancing. You can attend in larger numbers but only with the people you live with/who are in your support bubble. From 14th September 2020, it will be illegal to be in group of more than six from outside of your household.


* STAGGERED ARRIVAL TIMES
When booking you will be asked the names of the members (and contact numbers of any guests) in your party. Please have this information ready when you call. To see Government guidelines on who you can have in your party or sit with, click HERE.

You will be allocated an arrival time as close as possible to your desired time on a first come first served basis. Please do your best to arrive at the Club at the allotted time as this will avoid congestion and the possibility of having to queue in the car park before entering the premises.


* OPERATE A ONE WAY SYSTEM IN THE CLUBHOUSE
You will be met at the door and shown to your allocated table if you are sitting in the Clubhouse or round to the garden if you have booked outside.


* TABLE SERVICE ONLY
There will be no drinks service at the bar. Orders for food and drink will be taken at your table and delivered to your table by waiting staff wearing face coverings. Payment must be made via the Club Payment Card or debit/credit card, it will not be possible to pay in cash.


* ONE SITTING PER TABLE PER SESSION
This allows us to deep clean your table overnight. You can take reassurance from the knowledge that the table has not been used before that day, has been cleaned overnight and has a fresh covering. This does, of course, further limit our capacity and flexibility, so please be patient.

The Royal Solent Yacht Club has taken full account of Government guidance when planning for the re-opening of the Clubhouse and will always do what it can to ensure your safety and the safety of the Club’s staff. However, given the nature of the virus, there are risks that are outside the control of the Club and you must make your own decision about whether you wish to visit.
