Our Response to Covid

We are very pleased to say that the Clubhouse is now open again inside, in line with step 3 of the Government's roadmap out of lockdown.

Please find below details of the procedures in place to help provide a Covid secure environment for members, visitors and staff.

* SAME GREAT SERVICE - DIFFERENT PROCEDURES
There is guidance and legislation in place which the Club must continue to follow to remain open safely and legally. These procedures are in place to enable this.

Though we are more practised, easing out of lockdown will not be easy for any of us and some may feel that the procedures we are required to have in place are onerous and over cautious, but we would ask you to think about the more vulnerable in our community and respect these rules.

* HEALTH CHECK
Please do not come to the Club at all if you or anyone in your household or support bubble, or anyone you have knowingly been in contact with, has any of the symptoms of Covid or has tested positive for Covid within the last 10 days.

* ACCESSIBLE AREAS
Please enter the Club via the front door. You will be greeted either in the foyer or at the top of the stairs, booked in and guided to your allocated table either in the Clubhouse or in one of our outside spaces (lawn, balconies, colonnade).

Please note that the lift is now in use again, however usage must be restricted to those persons within your group booking.

On the lawn, a marquee will continue to provide cover for a number of tables, we are required to keep the marquee well ventilated so some of the sides will be removed. On the balconies, a number of gazebos will also provide cover, again we are required to keep some of the sides open

The Club's ground floor cloakrooms will be accessible on a limited capacity basis of 3 persons at any one time.

The showers are also now open, however we would encourage Members to avoid or minimise use of the showers where possible (for example, by arriving in sailing kit and showering at home) and to minimise the time they spend in the changing area.

* FACE COVERINGS
Face coverings are required to be worn at all times inside the Clubhouse, except whilst seated at your allocated table and except by those with a valid age, health or disability reason for not wearing a face covering.

* GROUP BOOKINGS
From 17th May 2021, it is permitted to socialise indoors on tables of up to 6 people, each of whom can be from different households, or in groups of more than 6 in relation to 2 households.

Those in a group from different households should ensure they socially distance as much as possible and must not mingle with those outside of their booking. When allocating tables we will endeavour to support social distancing.

All members and visitors must be seated at a table, whether eating or just drinking.

Outdoors the limit is for groups of up to 30.

If you don't have a booking, you will be asked to provide the names of the members (and contact numbers of any guests) in your party on arrival so please have this information ready. All those in the group with the NHS App should also scan the NHS QR code on arrival.

* BOOKING IN ADVANCE
With social distancing requirements still in place our capacity is reduced so advanced booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Booking will also help us to ensure that we know who has been to the Club for track and trace purposes should it be necessary; we are required to keep this information for three weeks. Members should ideally pay using their Club Payment Card account, particularly as this will allow redemption of the member discount, so account balances may be need to be topped up when you book.

The booking line (01983 760256) is open from 9am - 5pm Monday to Thursday, 10am - 5pm Friday and 9am - 12pm Saturdays. Alternatively, outside of office hours, try the Bar on 760239 or email your booking requirement to bookings@royalsolent.org and we will call you back during office hours to confirm availability. When you book you will be asked which area you would like to sit in and you will be allocated a table, subject to availability.

When booking you will be asked to provide the names of the members (and contact numbers of any guests) in your party. Please have this information ready when you book. All those in the group with the NHS App should also scan the NHS QR code on arrival.

* STAGGERED ARRIVAL TIMES
You will be allocated an arrival time as close as possible to your desired time on a first come first served basis. Please do your best to arrive at the Club at the allotted time as this will avoid congestion and the possibility of having to queue in the car park before being shown to your table.

* TABLE SERVICE ONLY
Whether you are inside or outside, government regulations require you to be seated at a table if you are eating or drinking.

There will be no drinks service at the bar, orders for food and drink will be taken at your table and delivered to your table by waiting staff wearing face coverings. Table buzzers will be fitted to a number of the Club's outside tables which can be used to page the waiting staff if you are awaiting service.

Payment should be made at your table, ideally via the Club Payment Card or debit/credit card.

 * RISK ASSESSMENTS
We are required by law to produce Covid Risk Assessments and to update these to to reflect any changes in legislation or guidance. Links to these are listed below:

The Royal Solent Yacht Club has taken full account of Government guidance when planning for the re-opening of the Clubhouse and will always do what it can to ensure your safety and the safety of the Club’s staff. However, given the nature of the virus, there are risks that are outside the control of the Club and you must make your own decision about whether you wish to visit.
