Social Events

With the extension of Covid regulations (rather frustratingly until the day after the regatta weekend!), this year’s regatta will look and feel very similar on the water, but the format of social events ashore will be somewhat different - though hopefully just as much fun!

Advanced Booking
Please note that online entries and social bookings are now closed.

Please call us on 01983 760256 to enquire about the availability of social tickets.

To avoid disappointment it is absolutely essential to book in advance for meals or just drinks via the regatta online booking form. The seating capacity of the Clubhouse and grounds is greatly reduced by the requirement for social distancing, table service, seated drinking and dining, plus limited group numbers, so bookings are on a “first booked first served” basis!*

There will be a regatta special offer on Taittinger all weekend with bottles of Taittinger Brut Réserve NV at £50, £27.50 for a half bottle & £10 a glass, and Taittinger Brut Prestige Rosé NV at £60. Order from your table or purchase bottles from our pop-up Taittinger bar to take-away.

The closing date for social bookings is Monday 12th July.

Friday
In place of the Taittinger Champagne Reception on Friday evening, competitors are invited to book in advance for supper or drinks at the Club following on from Registration. Each boat with a reserved table may then enjoy their complimentary bottle of Taittinger Champagne at the Club, those crews that we are not able to accommodate at the Club may take their Champagne away to enjoy on their boats.

Saturday
The day starts with a fortifying breakfast baguette to eat in or take-away from 7am, then after an exhilarating day’s racing, competitors are invited to relax at the Club for drinks or supper, again please book in advance for all meals or drinks. Regretfully, due to current Covid regulations, the Towers Party is not going ahead this year.

Sunday
Breakfast baguettes will be served from 7am – 9am. The Club’s popular Hog Roast will be on offer after racing on Sunday to eat in or take-away. Tickets should be purchased online in advance and it is advisable to turn up early if you like crackling!
The Prize Giving will take place after 2:30pm, the details of which will be included in your entry packs.

Covid Compliancy
In uncharted waters, we are working very hard to deliver both an enjoyable and Covid-compliant regatta and would ask you to please work with our staff and volunteers to achieve this.

For the health and safety of your fellow competitors and our members and staff, before coming to Yarmouth, competitors and their guests are strongly encouraged to take a lateral flow test to confirm that they are negative for Covid. Free test kits are now widely available from pharmacies or can be ordered online.

Please also ensure that you, your crew and guests familiarise yourselves with the Royal Solent’s Response to Covid, the Risk Assessments therein and the guidance below:

  • The Royal Solent Clubhouse and grounds have a limited capacity and the Club reserves the right to refuse entry to the premises if it is considered that maximum capacity has been reached. The Club reserves the right to cancel or amend either the sailing or social programme at short notice.
  • Please do not enter the Clubhouse or grounds if you are suffering from any of the symptoms of Covid or have tested positive.
  • On arrival, scan the Club’s QR code with the NHS COVID-19 app or provide your name and contact number to a member of staff.
  • Hand sanitizer is available to use on entering the Clubhouse and at regular intervals throughout your visit.
  • Face coverings must be worn at all times in the Clubhouse, except when seated at your designated table.
  • For those eating and drinking onsite, there is table service only, no bar service.
  • All food and drink may only be consumed onsite when seated at a table, not standing up.
  • The cloakrooms are limited to 3 persons at any one time.
  • Groups are restricted to 6 in the Clubhouse and up to 30 outside with 1m+ social distancing required between groups.
  • Please comply with all reasonable requests of Flag Officers, Staff and Volunteers.

*Alternative Venues

Prize Giving

Prize giving will take place between the marquees on Sunday 18th July, and not before 2.30pm.

Prize winners will be notified via their mobile phones and should take a seat in the marquee furthest from the Clubhouse.

Two representatives only from each prize-winning boat may attend to enable us to keep within current Covid regulations.

Once seated, you will be able to order drinks.

When your boat’s name is called, please come up and collect your trophy, respecting social distancing – photographs will be taken.

Unfortunately, whilst there will be keeper prizes and, of course, Taittinger Champagne for you to keep, it will not be possible to take the Club trophies away, however you will be sent a photograph of the presentation.

Plus, new this year, is the prize draw for a seven-night half board stay for two persons in the luxury Edelweiss & Gurgl Hotel in the Ötztal Alps in Austria, with the winner to be drawn out of a hat from the winning boats in each class.

Good luck everyone!
